What's New with Norm

November 15

. . . Shoot 50ToDeath Episode 6, "Distractions", today. We were all pretty distracted until we locked into our characters and a solid rhythm.

November 21

. . . Norm on Law & Order Criminal Intent. Check out the "irate guy" arguing with the innocent desk clerk. Hopefully I'll actually be caught on camera. Basically I'm a talking prop.

December 23

. . . Guiding Light Santa Claus character is on today. Check out the guy in the fur trimmed red suit, black boots, and the padded midline. Possibly with the pin-head.

Recent Projects & Events

. . . Debut of Episode #3, "Diego's Mustache" on "50todeath.com".

November 7 & 8

. . . Reading of Julie Leedes new play, "Dad's New Hat", at The Ensemble Studio Theatre. Part of their "Festival Of New Works".

November 5

. . . Guiding Light shoot. My first chance to play Santa on screen. Even with a trim beard and a thin face with high cheekbones . . . you can play Santa. Another great casting moment for the beards.

October 26

. . . We resume shooting of "50ToDeath". Hope those characters are still within our reach.

October 23

. . . Table read of "Crime and Fortune Cookies" by Jason Sokoloff, NYU Grad Thesis Film. Jay is part of the team.

October 21

. . . Table read of "Flood" by Katie Scoggin, NYU Grad Thesis Film. Ditto.

October 21

. . . Table read of "Reform" by Jamal Caesar, NYU Grad Thesis Film. Always happy to help those NYU Grad Students.

October 20 & 21

. . . "Toymaker" demo recording. My first studio singing work. I'm thinking some more singing lessons are in order.

October 19

. . . Episode #2, "Intelligent Design" debuts on 50todeath.com. Trying to gauge the market for magic wristbands. www.50todeath.com.

October 16

. . . Great review for 50ToDeath on tubefilter.tv news. Terrific interview and they compared us to "Mad About You".

October 11

. . . Citicard Spot back on Network TV. I guess in this economic crisis it's safer to bring back oldies rather than shoot newies. Thanks Citi.

October 10

. . . Law and Order Criminal Intent Shoot as an irate guest. Shot in the lobby of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. It's amazing how oblivious or totally dismissive those who can afford this hotel are to things happening around them. Imagine, if you will, people unable to notice cameras, crew of 25, about 30 background, three scripted principals, lighting instruments and stands, and a number of people closely watching monitors in the rather compact lobby. WOW!!

September 26

. . . Screening - "Unspooled", the unraveling of a student film. Keir Moreano did a great job documenting the unfortunate shoot and the unmade feature film.

September 23

. . . Carlos Serrao Shoot. Norm in iconic "Man and the Sea" set-up, complete with panoramic water's edge backdrop, surrounding fans and wind and rain. Rather a fun shoot. Can't wait to get the shots back.

September 18

. . . Actual 50todeath prelaunch. Beta testing our website for bugs and reactions and reactions to bugs.

September 15

. . . Launch of 50todeath.com . . . home to “50 To Death” webisodes. First episode released: “Norm’s Thesis.” Expect to get some hits and start spreading the word.

September 10

. . . PSA shoot as a college professor for “Feed America”, directed by Tony Kaye (American History X). If they use my segment, it’ll be great face time. Tony Kaye doesn’t say much to actors. Does a good deal of pointing.

September 9

. . . Offered principal role in feature film “SubterraNYa”. Unfortunately it was non-union and I had to turn it down. Loved the people (director/writer, and the producer.) Hope to work with them in the future.

July 29

. . . Industrial shoot for Pfizer as a psychiatrist interviewing Bi-polar and Schizophrenic patients. Lots of copy, lots of teleprompter work. Rather a boring shoot.

July 15 - August 3

. . . Originated the role of Norm Yablonsky in “The Higher Education Of Khalid Amir” by Monica Bauer. Six performances in the Midtown International Theatre Festival.

July 9

. . . Photo shoot with Paul Aresu, famed for his edgy commercial ads with famous sports figures. Got an intense headshot which is on my photos page.

July 1

. . . Man on the street improvised interview for “The Onion.” Likely the last time I’ll shoot something for “The Onion.” They basically tell you what to improvise and what’s funny. Isn’t that funny?!
